You have probably seen watermarks everywhere—from a photographer's name tucked into the corner of a portrait to a website address repeated across a client proof. An image watermark is simply visible text placed over a photograph, illustration, product image, graphic, artwork, screenshot, or other visual content. Photographers, designers, artists, online sellers, businesses, publishers, and creators use them to identify the source, display copyright information, reinforce a brand, label previews, and discourage casual unauthorized reuse.
The nice part is that adding one does not have to be complicated. Upload your image, type the text you want to display, experiment with the font and appearance, move it to the spot that looks right, and decide whether one watermark is enough or whether repeated text makes more sense. When the preview looks right, export the finished image.
There is no single “correct” watermark. You might use

a photographer or artist name, company name, website domain, social media handle, portfolio URL, client-proof notice, or brand name. Keep it subtle when you simply want branding; make it more noticeable when you are sharing proofs, samples, drafts, or images that could travel far beyond the page where you originally posted them.
