Mental Math Meets Strategy

One target. Six numbers. How will you get there?

Number Target is a fast browser-based math game where every round gives you a target and a fresh set of numbers. Combine the available numbers using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to land exactly on the target. There is no single way to think — experiment, calculate, undo, and discover your own route to the answer.

How a round works
01

Study the target

Start with the target number and look over the number tiles available for the round.

02

Build calculations

Select two numbers and combine them with +, −, ×, or ÷. The result becomes a new number you can continue using.

03

Hit it exactly

Keep combining results until one of your remaining tiles matches the target exactly.

Choose Your Challenge

Four difficulty levels.
Four very different puzzles.

Difficulty changes more than the label. Each level expands the target range and introduces larger values and more demanding calculation routes.

Warm Up

Easy

10–50

A friendly starting range for quick arithmetic, simple combinations, and learning how Number Target works.

Balanced

Medium

50–150

Bigger targets encourage multi-step thinking and smarter combinations without becoming overwhelming.

Challenge

Hard

150–500

Larger numbers and longer routes reward planning ahead instead of simply trying the first calculation you see.

Mastery

Expert

500–999

High-value targets create deeper arithmetic puzzles for players who want demanding mental-math challenges.

More Than Calculation

Math practice that actually feels like a game.

Number Target turns ordinary arithmetic into a small strategy puzzle where every operation changes what is possible next.

Train the part of your brain that asks, “What can I make from this?”

Number Target encourages mental arithmetic, number sense, pattern recognition, flexible thinking, and step-by-step problem solving. Instead of answering a fixed equation, you build the equation yourself.

Mental Math Practice

Work naturally with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division while searching for useful combinations.

Problem Solving

A promising first move may create a dead end later. Think ahead, test ideas, and change your approach.

Experiment Freely

Undo lets you explore a route without committing to it. Try something unusual and see where the numbers lead.

Play Anywhere

The responsive Number Target interface works directly in your browser across phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops.

Example Puzzle

There may be more than one road to the target.

Imagine your target is 75 and your available numbers include 8, 7, 3, 10, 5, and 2. One possible idea is to create 15 and multiply it by 5. Other rounds may invite completely different approaches.

2
Example route: 8 + 7 = 15  →  15 × 5 = 75

Three simple Number Target strategies

You do not need to calculate every possibility. A few useful habits can make difficult targets much easier to approach.

Strategy 01

Work backward from the target

Ask what numbers could produce the target. For 120, possibilities such as 12 × 10 or 60 × 2 can give you smaller intermediate goals.

Strategy 02

Look for useful building blocks

Values such as 10, 20, 25, 50, or convenient multiples can make larger targets much easier to construct.

Strategy 03

Save flexible numbers

Small values can be surprisingly useful near the end of a puzzle. Before consuming every easy number, consider what you may need for the final adjustment.

What is a Number Target game?

A Number Target game is an arithmetic puzzle where you combine a set of available numbers with mathematical operations to reach a specified target number exactly.

Which math operations can I use?

This game lets you combine number tiles using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Each completed calculation creates a result that can be used again.

What difficulty levels are available?

Number Target includes Easy targets from 10–50, Medium from 50–150, Hard from 150–500, and Expert challenges from 500–999.

Do I have to reach the target exactly?

Yes. The goal is to create a number that matches the displayed target exactly rather than simply getting close.

Can I undo a calculation?

Yes. Use Undo to reverse your latest move, or Clear to return the current puzzle to its original set of numbers and try another strategy.

Is Number Target useful for math practice?

It provides repeated practice with arithmetic, number relationships, calculation planning, and problem solving in a puzzle format rather than a traditional worksheet.

Can I play Number Target on my phone?

Yes. The game is designed with responsive controls and layouts for mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop browsers.

Can I play more than one puzzle?

Yes. Use New Target to generate another challenge and continue building your solved count and winning streak.
